A Reprieve

Well, the blogosphere breathes a collective sigh as my erstwhile Uncle Steve pleads for a stay of execution for Name This Food! (what does 'erstwhile' actually mean? Hang on a sec. Errr... what?
 erst·while
[urst-hwahyl, -wahyl]
–adjective
1.
former; of times past: erstwhile friends.
–adverb
2.
Archaic . formerly; erst.
Origin:
1560–70; erst  + while

—Synonyms
1.  past, bygone, previous.

—Antonyms
1.  current, present.

Okay, I think I and a bunch of other people have been using this word incorrectly for many years. He isn't my former Uncle Steve, he's my current Uncle Steve.)

Ahem.

My current Uncle Steve asked for Name This Food! to stay, so it stays. So, what is the new food?
